Finally, an update! ...of my blog.
So, yeah, I apparently can't keep up a big complicated comic while simultaniously working and earning my PhD as I had previously suspected (stupid learning). As a result, this comic is making the shift to archive-mode, meaning, I'll be keeping this little comic-gen site going for nostalgia purposes, as gazing upon the old archives does conjure up warm memories. However, I'll likely not update the comic, except on rare occassions. The observant reader may also notice the simultaneous demise of biscuits for breakfast and, basically, green's collective as well, as the result of completely unrelated circumstances having nothing to do with me, and thus hammering a number of large nails into the lid covering the coffin of the once-so-promising Burning Barrel collective. I do feel sorry for this development, as Mr. Krekeler had just joined up when us 3 spazzed out, though it sounds like his comic will also be seeing some serious cutbacks in the coming months.
But not to worry!
Alex (a.k.a. Danny a.k.a. Valuedan a.k.a. MacMahon) and I (a.k.a. me) have found a solution to my general lack of time and his general lack of motivation by combining our forces and making a co-op comic that I'm drawing and that he's writing. The working title is "Wet Sandwich," which I loathe, though I can't think of anything better. It consists of random-assed little 4 panel black and white comics without any real direction, plot, or character development, but with lots of hillarity in a Red Meat meets Tom the Dancing Bug meets Maakies type of fashion.
The benefit of this format, is that all I have to do is draw and ink a bunch of pictures of dudes standing around, and then alex takes them and makes them into comics, resulting in minimal effort on both our parts, and maximum comic velocity. Hell, apparently one can even get away with cutting and pasting the SAME DRAWING into 4 consecutive panels, with changes only occuring in the text! We truly do live in a wonderful new age!
While my dear old OS once took me upwards of 8-9 hours for one comic, the same length of time can easily produce 20 of these NEW comics, and if one or the other of us is incommunicado for a short length of time, the other can pump out comics for a while (though if that person is me, the jokes will become retarded and poorly spelled, and if that person is alex, the art will suddenly contain way more template characters or crudely drawn pixel-people), or we can simply delve into a deep reserve of already made comics (we already have about 30, i believe).
We're still trying to figure out the best way to put this new comic on top of the internet, as comicgenesis and blogs are obnoxious, not to mention bush-league. Our problems owe to the fact that neither of us can HTML, and we don't exactly have a server, though we have our eyes on a few prospects. Hopefully, things will begin moving within the next couple weeks. Keep checking this blog, OR go to www.burningbarrel.com for relevent future news on this topic.
In the mean time, here's a couple samples of the new comic for you to gaze upon:

MY god! WHAT have I done!
Holy crap, has it really been that long since I updated last? I could have sworn I posted something last week...
Oh, that's right, I was almost done with a comic when my computer crrashed and corrupted the file, causing me to beat my head with my fist and then cry myself to sleep.
Huuhghghhgnnn.... Well, I'll force myself to re-finish this comic, and post it later this week... before or on Friday. Then we'll see if I manage another one next week. It'll be tricky, what with my looming deadlines and what not, but it could happen... I do odd things when I'm procrastinating.
The beginning of May (and the end of class) should bring forth again the regular comic posting times, though posting may move to sunday instead of friday.
Right, well, live long and prosper, I guess.
And vote for me, you dipwiches!

A poste for your perusal.
In know, I know, I'm almost as bad as Alex as far as comic updating over the past few units of time, but things have been "hopping" and "bopping," ah, as it were. Read Danny-boy's recent posts about his little visit for more details. We had some good times, aside from him eating me out of house and home. Looks like its ramen noodles and frozen ketchup packets for me!
Anyway, I'm still trying to catch up with the school work that I have suddenly gotten so very behind on, but I will indeed have a new comic next week at some point (likely on Friday, but who knows... maybe earlier?). Also, in case you are wondering about those filler comics, you should be able to find plenty here . The past month of stuff on there is drawn by me, or in a few cases, by Dave/Aron/Cameron (orc assassin, crotch duck, etc. etc.). Of all of them, this one is problably my favorite, closely followed by this one and this one.
On a side note, does anyone know what the hell happened to the web comic list? My vote button has been a broken link for almost a month and typing in www.webcomiclist.com sends one to some completely different site. It boggles the mind.

Uh Oh
Sorry, no comic this week. Danny boy and Scurvy are visiting, and other matters have me preoccupied. I'll have them help me make some horrible filler comics tommorrow or monday, though, so it won't be a COMPLETE loss. I think I may finally get around to making a characters section, too. Huzzah!

Mmmm... Miller Lite and Green Dye
Hey, want some new comic? Better go here if you haven't already.
Now that that's done, I wish to apologize to anyone that read the aforementioned comic, knowing all too well that it is a bit nerdier then usual. If you don't know what card game the kobalds are playing in the last panel, you are better off. Trust me. One may also notice that some of the art is strange looking... possibly due to an overdose of green dye as a result of my spending most of yesterday at O'Bannons pub, for what should be obvious reasons. On the other hand, I did make all the backgrounds myself this time, only one of which was made with the gradient tool! Huzzah!

Wooo!
Ahh, spring break... excellent. In case any of you were wondering, the new comic will be up shortly.. probably around midnight-ish. Midterms and the following period of paralyzation and excessive drinking/pancakes kept me from posting on Friday like normal, but soon this will be remedied. And this one should be way better then the last one, too... it features Rastin performing a particular move originally patented by David/Swifty as a defensive technique of sorts (I told Reclamare that I'd draw it into the comic, because when I tried to explain it to him, he didn't understand).
ANYway, as I'm sure most of you have already heard, B4B, Green's Collective, and OS shall imminently unite into a mighty entity which shall deal out comics of both quantity and quality, simultaneously dazzling the eye and enriching the mind. Hopefully, during spring break I'll have the time to help out a little, vis-à-vis drawing stuff and doing... things. The theme seems to be the charming homeless, as you can see by my new avatar over there. Actually, that’s a fairly accurate representation of how i dress during the summer while I’m digging square holes in the sun, so guess its not so much a hobo as it is a hobo-archaeologist, or hobarchaeologist. Its very easy to get the two confused... I spent last summer digging holes under a bridge down by the river in the ghetto part of Spokane (well, ONE of the ghetto parts of Spokane). We only found one corpse, though, and crack heads hardly ever exposed themselves at us at all. Pretty sad, as far as hobo standards go.

Oh lord, make it stop!
Well, I'm now in the midst of my midterm woes, and I really don't see how I'm going to get everything done. I have one of those midterms coming up where the proffessor basically told us the test would kinda-sorta cover this and that and this other thing, and that we should sort of look at this, and maybe know that... but judging from his previous expectations, that means the in-class, no-notes test will require 25 pages of essay writing with cited sources and fucking hand-drawn artifact diagrams and THERE'S SO MUCH INFORMATION I THINK MY HEAD IS GOING TO EXPLODE INTO A CLOUD OF VOLATILE KNOWLEDGE SPORES!!! AAARRRRGGGG!!!!
Hey, I think that made me feel a bit better... perhaps ranting is the key to mental well being. It seems to work for Danny boy, as his recent lack of ranting seems to be causing him to delve into some sort of comic-less funk.
Anyway, the point I'm starting to get at is that updating the comic on time will be quite the challenge indeed. Can I do it? Will I have a comic on Friday for your optical enjoyment, or will my trip into the realms of insanity result in a complete nervous breakdown? Not that this wouldn't provide for some interesting comic materials...
Hmmmm, Nervous breakdown comics... I like it! I imagine this as the result:

Yes.
Well, if worse comes for worse, the comic will be posted saturday instead of friday. boo-hoo-hoo.

Work Complete!
New comic today. Go read it.
In other news, stay tuned to Comic Graveyard, the site where Danny and I are sticking an ungodly amount of stupid, never-ending filler comics. The reason I bring this up is because every day next month, a new comic/picture/otherwise will be uploaded for your viewing enjoyment from the perilous depths of the old "Random Stuff" archive of my old site. For those of you that don't remember, this was where my friends and I stuck all my meaningless, minimal-effort comics and scribblings, most of which are quite deranged. This was also where Danny-boy got his start with Bisquits for Breakfast. So, go to Comic Graveyard and read the stuff that gets put there every day. It doesn't matter if they aren't any good, because it updates EVERY FREAKIN DAY!
...and click on that damn vote button, you ingrates! You will be rewarded with a BONUS thingy I drew at some point in the past. The thingy will change at random intervals, and I'm not telling when, neither, so you better keep on clicking that button obsessively.
If wishes were fishes, then OH SHIT I'M GONNA DIE!!
Well, I seem to have some sort of crippling disease now, and I also should be studying for frightening midterms that occur next week, and my computer is acting weird, and all sorts of other lame I'm-not-gonna-post-this-week excuses, but you know what? I'm going to post a new comic anyway, goddamn it! ...and it's gonna be the best fuckin' comic you've ever seen. None of that filler comic crap... no guest comics, no stick figures, no pouty little pencil sketches of underage anime schoolgirls, but a REAL FUCKING GODDAMN SHIT ASS FREAKIN COMIC. As I type this, the comic is in its final stages, and will be posted early tommorrow afternoon, after I get out of class. I think I've finally settled on Friday as being new-comic-posting time, so it shall be so. Oh, I also crammed a little vote-type-button at the top o me site, and you better click it or I'll get all sad and start bemoaning my sadness in long, neverending blog-posts.
One final note, everyone's post-commenting-buddy Reclamare has launched his webby-type comic, which is now available here... no, here... no, no... HERE, and it is excellent. Seems to be some sort of mix between Overcompensating and that one comic... you know, I think it was made by some British guy... had those zombies or something in it... oh, who cares. Now that I think about it, its not that much like overcompensating either.
Edit: Had to change one of those little links on account it made funny noises and may have had some popup garbage. Its better now.
